KNITTING CLAY

MATERIAL RESEARCH AND CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT:

The brief asked us to propose a new aesthetic direction for a ceramic collection, inspired by our country and cultural origins.  

The concept also needed to move beyond its original context, allowing the final surface system to be applied across different places and times.  

Drawing from Thracian traditional weaving, I explored gesture, rhythm and repetition as elements that could be translated into clay, creating a flexible system of forms, compositions and colours.
