MARONIA, THRACE _ RESIDENTIAL COMPLEX
Architectural design of a holiday residential complex in the coastal area of Maronia, in Rhodope, Thrace.
The project is currently in development.
The project concerns the design of a summer residential complex for four families. Its main compositional principle is the creation of a contemporary housing proposal that maintains a connection with the local character and natural landscape through the simplicity of its forms, the clarity of its geometry and the natural quality of its materials.
The selection of materials and colours draws reference from the landscape and material culture of Thrace. Particular importance is given to Maronia stone, a material connected to the local building tradition and to the dry-stone walls that historically defined the boundaries of gardens and properties.
The natural topography of the site and the view towards the Thracian Sea are determining factors in the composition, influencing the geometry, orientation and arrangement of the residential units.
The proposal seeks a gentle integration into the landscape: an architecture that does not impose itself on the place, but enters into dialogue with its memory, its materials and its natural identity.
