FUEL COFFEE LAB

FUEL COFFEE LAB -  espresso bar in Piraeus.

Study - Construction : January 2014 (collaboration with Kipseli Architects)

Fuel occupies a two-storey corner space at the intersection of two main urban axes in Piraeus: Kolokotroni Street and the pedestrian street of Sotiros Dios. It is both a point of intense everyday movement and a place of pause and encounter.

The architectural proposal seeks to introduce visitors into a distinct interior experience without disconnecting them from the city moving around them. The composition is organised through an open plan and a continuous two-storey operable glazed façade.

Across the façade, shades of green, red and yellow refer to the colour stages of coffee, from the fruit to its final processing.

Natural light passes through these coloured surfaces, transferring the palette into the interior and subtly transforming its atmosphere throughout the day.

The service bar begins inside and continues in a U-shaped configuration towards the exterior frontage, emphasising the continuity between inside and outside, between the space of pause and the flow of the city.
