PAIR ACROPOLIS

All day Cafe - Bar  on the Acropolis.

Study - Construction : May 2021

The central idea of the architectural proposal emerged from the distinctive L-shaped geometry of the space and its double relationship with the city: towards Athanasiou Diakou Street and Porinou Street. The interior was conceived as a symbolic urban arcade, where movement unfolds as a narrative.

This narrative is organised through a white luminous ribbon, beginning in the courtyard on Porinou Street, crossing the interior and ending on Athanasiou Diakou Street. Projected onto walls, volumes, the bar and the floor, it connects the different areas of the space through a single continuous gesture.

Handmade graphic artworks develop along this white surface, with the human body as their central subject: fragmented, reassembled and completed by blossoming botanical motifs. The intervention recalls an interior form of street art, addressing encounter, proximity and pairing - concepts at the core of Pair.

Lighting was a defining tool of the design. Within the low, elongated space, indirect light emerges from the volumes and reflects onto the ceilings, creating a clear and diffused atmosphere. A suspended metal bridge organises the two main functional areas: the dining space with its library and the bar.

On the Porinou Street side, a small planted courtyard acts as a pause within the dense urban fabric of central Athens, offering a quiet outdoor space for meeting and relaxation.
