DODONI CAFE
DODONI CAFÉ & GELATO in Kallithea.
Study - Build : January 2015
The architectural proposal treated the existing shell as a dark canvas, from which new elements, textures and geometries emerge, transforming the original rigidity of the space.
A central gesture of the composition was the design of the ceiling as a relief surface in continuous dialogue with the service counter and the storage elements. The ceiling appears to embrace the interior and extend outwards, reinforcing the coherence and dynamic character of the proposal. Along the central dark wall, metal mesh boxes function simultaneously as storage and lighting elements.
Against this dark background, the colours of the ice cream are strongly revealed through the display counters, introducing fresh and playful tones into the composition. The new elements project boldly from the existing grey shell, giving the interior new intensity, depth and identity.
