APPROACH
otarch studio is a creative architecture and design practice founded by architect Ourania Tyliou, with its main base in Athens. Since 2026, it has also been developing its activity in Milan.
The studio’s design approach is based on two main principles: the careful reading of place and the development of a central idea that gives meaning and coherence to each project.
a. The reading of place
Each proposal begins with what is already present in a space: its proportions and forms, the movement of natural light, its orientation, material qualities and relationship with the wider environment.
These observations become the starting point for an architectural proposal that emerges from the place itself and recognises its particular character.
For the studio, space is not formed only through geometry, volume and function. Light, colour, texture, surfaces, reflections and atmosphere deeply influence the way a space is perceived and experienced by people.
b. The central idea
The central idea is not an abstract gesture. It is the core from which all individual decisions arise.
It provides a framework that gives meaning to the overall composition and to each design choice: form, layout, material, colour, detail and atmosphere.
b. CMF & Sensorial Design
Colour, materials and finishes are not treated as final application choices, but as fundamental elements of the design process and of the central idea. They shape the perception and emotional character of a space.
From architectural composition and interior design to the development of a surface, a material palette or an atmosphere, the direction remains consistent: creating spaces and forms with clarity, meaningful content and sensorial presence.
Spaces that do not impose themselves on people, but gradually reveal themselves through use, sensory experience and time.
